And with that...

The month of May draws to a close.

31 strips. Some better than others. Some just this side of things you would find drawn on the walls of a house with a 2 year old in it. But all scanned and put up for public view.

This marks the second of my drawing goals I have completed. For me this is a big deal, as completing things I start is something of a rare happening.

Though this marks the end of the daily strips for the time being (break time!) I should have updates every few days. There are 14 or so strips from April, and I really would like to get my 24 hour comic put up at some point. And of course any new ideas that spring to mind.

Oh, and I'm working on a 6 page story for Stick Figure Anthology . I have the whole thing thumbnailed out, and the first 3 pages of script done. Hopefully I will finish the script and get started on some actual pencil work soon.

And then theres that drawing class. More on that tomorrow after I visit the friendly folks at TCC.

As always thanks for taking a look around Comic Viewer.

Edit-- So I totally misspelled CongraTulations. I rule. Move along. Nothing to see here.

Busy day tomorrow. I'm off to try to convice TCC that my "Horrid" semester at OU shouldn't really count, and that taking a drawing 1 class is in the best interest of everyone on the planet. Especially the 4 people that check out my daily drawings.

Here's to you.

Draw on!

Rear end one of the people that lives in my apartment complex. Check!

Have lunch/dinner waited on by the skinniest man in food service. Check!

Stand around in CompUSA for 15 minutes trying to get someone's attention so I can buy a powerbook. Check!

Finish unpacking apartment nearly a month after getting all my stuff moved. Check!

Bring on tomorrow!

I'm proud of today for 2 reasons.

1. Todays strip is actually a comic. There are multiple panels, and what could pass as a story in some circles.

2. I really did make some badassical food. The chili made up for the last 4 times I've tried to create something from those ingrediants.

4 strips to go.

Some experimentation.

05.22.05
Originally uploaded by AlexGates.
There are two experiments today.

1. I didn't use a border around the text again, trying to see what that looks like when scanned in. I'm not very happy with the effect, though it might be more my handwriting than anything.

2. I didn't draw a border around the comic, letting flickr/my_blog create the border instead. Again, not so much with the happy, but I think that has more to do with my crooked scanning than the look of the border. I may try again tomorrow.

Today's strip is just a hair above the HotHat of last week in terms of quality. I blame lack of sleep, though lack of drawing practice could also be the cause.

And yeah, I still can't get stuff to either scan in right, or be drawn with a good looking box. Take your pick of flaws.

19 down. See you tomorrow.

Sorry this scan is slightly crooked, I think my scanner is drunk.

Yesterday I'm minding my own business, eating lunch in my favorite deli style establishment, when I stumble across something in the USA Today that causes a stir of emotion deep inside my chest.

I will quote the article, which goes into some detail about the one of the new video game machines that are due out in 2006. Revolution is the name of Ninteno's next generation platform.

"Revolution will offer broadband access to a free Internet-based player matching service...that also will have downloadable versions of nearly every Nintendo game -- from arcade classic Donkey Kong through current titles such as Mario Sunshie. (Nintendo hasn't deciced whether downloading will be free.)"

Let that sink in. Every Nintendo Game. All of them. You want to play Wizards and Warriors? Go ahead. Or how about Elevator Action? Bring it on!

Needless to say I'm jazzed.

Off to watch Alias and Lost.

Starting last night my internet just shuts off. All the lights are on, but nothing is happening. Tried taking out the router and just using the modem, same thing. Amber is getting a security error on her laptop, so that may be the problem, but following linksys' instructions gets me nowhere. It may be a day on the phone tomorrow.

In good news my spare parts for my shelf got here today, and my Muppets can now breath non-boxed air.

So, Comic Viewer, may your week be as productive as I hope mine will be.

Thanks for taking a look around.

2. Amber's eyes look a lot better than that. See above.

3. The spider, though seriously huge, did not stand up to the can of Raid. Though he did seek refuge behind the TV, eventually he was killed in another fit of crazy Raid spraying.

First I must apologize for the lameness of this strip. My inner 12 year old, holder of the pens and paints and sketchbook, had a very different vision. But somewhere along the way from his rocking concert fueled musings and my nervous hand putting pen to paper, there was an accident. Perhaps someday I will show you all what my first attempt at this drawing looked like, or it may be one I take wearily into the night, to use for kindling for that great bonfire on the beach we all strive for.

Second I must hand out a heartfelt thank you to all the people who have looked at my small slice of life I've managed to put up this week.

Thank you Comic Viewer. I hope the trip this week has been enjoyable. Tune in next week for more antics. Including: Some strips from April, at least one more page from Robot and Ghost go to the Moon, a rare daily sketch from Amber, and hopefully 7 more strips from yours truly.

Alex: Where are the screws?
Amber: What screws?
Alex: The bag full of screws and what not.
Amber: Umm.....

Completely missing. Not even a scrap of supply like material in the box. The box had been opened at both ends and I think someone else had been missing something from their shelf, and decided to use the precious screwbag from mine.

Amber's going kamikaze on the customer service number in the morning. I want my shelf.
